Jane Rose is a writer of weird and speculative fiction based in NYC.
She has also written web articles about mountaineering ghosts, movie monsters, coroners, and 1960s occult rock for Mental Floss and other outlets. She is the creator of the Lovecraft in Brooklyn walking tour, which she previously offered via cultural institution Morbid Anatomy and walking tour company Boroughs of the Dead. She has spoken on the above subjects and others at The House of Know lecture series at the Flying Fox Tavern in Queens and Hauser & Wirth Gallery in Manhattan. In her past creative life, she directed low budget horror films and spent time in the (fake) bloody trenches as a special effects makeup artist. In her "professional" life, she has held research and archival roles at Columbia University and the New York Times and has worked as a book editor, art handler, and art model, among other things. She received an MFA in fiction from Columbia University, where she was nominated for the Henfield Prize.Photo credit: Julie K. Gray
Jane can be reached at the form below or very sporadically on the socials, where she is an unrepentant lurker.
